In March 2013, a good friend of ours was finishing off his doctorate at MIT in Boston. Obviously, we had to go and visit him, steal him away from his work as much as possible and have a grand old time in the USA. I was the lone female in a group of four to five ‘adult’ (the word calls for more mature candidates, I’m sure) men. – Camille
New York, New York! A quick (relatively speaking) trip on the greyhound later and byebye Boston, hello New York!
We are renting an apartment on 2nd Avenue and 7th Street and it looks great. Three double beds and no privacy whatsoever to speak of, but with a small kitchen included. And it’s clean! Therefore, we went off to buy tons of food (we’ll be cooking here, to counter-act all the sponsoring of the American food industry) and came home with even more tons of food. Apparently, breakfast will be off the table as well. Sorry, AFI.
We went for a quick trip ’round Times Square to see if we could get musical tickets for tonight, but unfortunately that was not an option. We did book tickets for tomorrow’s edition of… The Phantom of the Opera! And we took a quick spin through the M&M store. And when I say ‘quick’, I mean ‘we got lost, lost each other and saw heaps of things we really really wanted’. Must repeat soon!
Tonight’s try-out for dinner was spaghetti. Not bad. Not bad at all. Thanks for cooking, boys. (My idea of a holiday? I only cook when I feel like it.)
