Disclaimer: in 2013, my boyfriend and I went to Tuscany for a week, where we wanted to explore the landscape by means of a Vespa. We were given four day trips (no GPS involved, just regular drawn instructions, which meant I gave the directions and the boyfriend drove the Vespa), all of which started in the centre of San Gimignano, where we stayed at a hotel nearby.
Did you know our Vespa is red? As in: brand-spanking-new and red as a tomato? I love it already and I haven’t even driven it yet.
We’re set: after a day of visiting (Verona: beautiful city, everything perfectly within walking distance and magnificent ice cream to be had practically everywhere) and driving (the road between Trento and San Gimignano is not so very long – after a day of driving almost 12 hours straight – and perfectly doable) we arrived at our final destination. We drove through a long line of cypresses (I felt like we were in Gladiator, only feeling a whole lot happier), parked the car and splashed around in the pool. After that, it was time for dinner and lots of wine, while being served by an adorable grandfather-figure. We’re going there again, real soon. As in: on Thursday. Yay!
Tomorrow we’ll try out the Vespa. Pray for us (and the Italians we meet on our way)!
